Guest Housing

What is Guest Housing?

Wesley Theological Seminary has three residence halls for students, two of which occasionally have vacancies during the course of the year. Utilizing these empty spaces, the Seminary is able to provide accommodations to short-term seminary guests at a reasonable rate for our area. Please note that this service is one of hospitality – we are not a hotel or hostel and guest housing as a priority is second to the needs of our permanent student residents. To that end, we ask that guests plan to check in before 10pm, as our student Resident Managers handle after-office hours check-ins.

Who is Eligible?

Priority consideration for guests requesting guest housing is given to: educators with active engagements at the seminary, prospective students or faculty (at the behest of the Admissions Office and Dean's Office), Wesley alumni, guests of faculty, administrative staff, or current students, and officials of the United Methodist Church. Additionally, active students in good standing at American University in the MSOD program are also eligible.

Limitations

Guest Housing is not available during Doctor of Ministry terms (the first two weeks of January and the second and third weeks of May), Scholarship Weekend (the third weekend in March), Course of Study terms (the last week of June and the first three weeks of July) or during the Winter Holidays (the last two full weeks of December and the weekend that precedes it).

How do I Request Guest Housing?

The Housing Office will not accept reservation requests by phone. The following form is the only accepted method of requesting guest housing – however, if questions remain after reading the information available here, we would be happy to speak with you by phone. Additionally, guests interested in specific arrangements of guest housing may call in advance of completing the reservation request form to ascertain if vacancies are available.

Once the form below has been completed and submitted, you should receive a confirmation message on the page. Please note that we require a minimum of two week’s notice to consider your request. Guest housing is limited and fills up quickly. Your request will be processed and you will receive a confirmation email with an invoice, instructions for payment and check-in. This process usually takes one week, but can take longer depending on the holidays of the seminary. The Housing Office does not process requests on weekends.

Billing procedure

Guests without a student ID whose reservations are not made through a staff or faculty member are required to provide payment prior to arrival. Your confirmation email will contain information on making your payment by phone or mail. Checks or money orders should be sent with a copy of the invoice or the invoice number in the memo line to:

Office of Housing
Wesley Theological Seminary
4500 Massachusetts Ave, NW
Washington DC 20016

To make a payment by phone, please call 1-866-498-4011. Instead of entering a student ID number, please enter your six-digit invoice number. Payment may also be made in person in the Business Office (Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00-4:30 pm). Payment must be confirmed prior to check-in. No payment is required prior to email confirmation of guest housing reservation is received from the Office of Housing.

Amenities

Each guest apartment is outfitted with a private bath and kitchen or kitchenette (minimal dishes and cookware provided). Wireless internet access is available. Rooms do not have televisions. Linens are provided upon request. Occasionally during the academic semester, we are able to offer community-style dormitory rooms with shared bath and access to a shared kitchen. We are also occasionally able to accommodate large groups. All guest apartments and dormitory rooms are furnished with two twin beds. Maximum occupancy is four persons per apartment, three persons per dormitory room (note: it is not possible to provide extra beds, so guests must make their own arrangements if electing maximum occupancy).
