Leadership for Change Scholarship
The Jeanne Audrey Powers Leadership for Change Scholarship is available to qualified United Methodist seminarians.  It provides assistance of up to $3000 per year to students who are preparing for ordination as elders in the UMC and who are committed to promoting justice for gay and lesbian persons in the life of the church.  Please see Mary Vibert, Director of Financial Aid for an application. Due May 1.

NEED GRANTS
Returning Need Grant Recipients – please be sure to complete your 2014-15 FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov by the May 1 deadline for renewal of your Need Grant for next year.  Anyone wishing to apply for a Need Grant for the first time, please submit not only your FAFSA but also the Wesley Financial Assistance Application.  You can pick up one outside of the Financial Aid Office – Trott 201 or by contacting Mary Vibert at mvibert@wesleyseminary.edu.

DCBC Foundation Offers Scholarship to Seminarians
The D.C. Baptist Convention Foundation (DCBCF) is offering scholarships for seminarians that are members of DCBC churches. The scholarship applications for new and continuing seminary students are due in the Foundation office by Thursday, May 1. Students must demonstrate financial need, be enrolled as a full-time student, be studying for a first graduate degree in theology, preparing for full-time ministry, be an active member of a DCBC cooperating church at the time of enrollment, and must maintain a grade point average of 2.75 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent. Application forms for a scholarship can be obtained by contacting Ellen Teague at 202.234.7194 or ellen.teague@dcbaptist.org.

THE DEADLINE TO SOLIDIFY FALL/SPRING PLACEMENTS IS MAY 1

Solidification includes 1) an approved site application with information for both a clergy partner and a lay learning partner, 2) written confirmation of interest from the student, AND 3) written confirmation of interest from the site. Students should check WesleyWeb for updates in waitlist and other registration statuses. If there is a hold on your account, you will not be able to register until that is cleared.

“SECOND MONDAY BREAKFAST”
This Monday, April 14 at 7:30 am we will explore answers to the question: Do Jews, Christians, and Muslims share the same God? Dr. Sathianathan Clarke, Bishop Sundo Kim Chair in World Christianity and Professor of Theology, Culture and Mission will be our lecturer. 

FAITH AND POLITICS
Faith & Politics is a new addition to Wesley Theological Seminary’s Student Organizations, discussing where activism meets community society.  Please join us for an informal introduction on Monday, April 14 from 5 - 6:15 pm in Bess Jones to prepare for this coming fall.

M.DIV PROGRAM REVISION STUDENT FORUMS
Dean Martin has asked for several student forums to be held regarding revisions to the M.Div program.  We need to hold these forums by April 15. If you are interested in being a part of one of these forums, please contact Wally Culp right away at wculpiii@aol.com

DEAN’S FORUM:  MICHAEL DOVE AND THE LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT
Michael Dove is the artistic director of Forum Theatre in Silver Spring.  He will be discussing the upcoming play The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, as well as Michael's own interest in exploring religious issues onstage at the Dean’s Forum on Thursday April 24 from 12 – 1:30 pm in Elderdice. This event is free and open to the public. Please bring a lunch and join us!

Minnesota Annual Conference
The Minnesota Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is looking for entrepreneurial, missional system-changers to start new churches and new sites of existing churches in a variety of urban, suburban and rural settings across the state over the next few years.  Jerad Morey (MTS/MA '06) of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry will be on campus April 24 to learn about the ministry to which you are called and talk to you about Minnesota and the Minnesota Conference. Members of all denominations who feel called are welcome. CELEBRATING SHARON RINGE
Please join the Wesley community in celebrating Dr. Sharon Ringe’s many years of service to Wesley Theological Seminary, students, alumni and the Church. On Tuesday, April 29, at 11 am, our chapel service will honor Dr. Ringe’s ministry followed by a luncheon in the refectory open to the entire Wesley community. On Wednesday, April 30, the Rev. Dr. Daisy Machado, professor of church history at Union Theological Seminary, N.Y., will lead our Wednesday chapel service at 6:15, pm  which will honor Dr. Ringe’s work with the Hispanic Summer Program.  Please RSVP for the Tuesday luncheon at mdavenport@wesleyseminary.edu by April 25.

Faithful Action in Partnership: A Training to Respond to Human Trafficking.
This training will equip local churches, social-service organizations and law enforcement to actively respond to human trafficking in the Washington, DC/Baltimore metropolitan area. This is an ecumenical training for clergy and laity in DC and Baltimore, sponsored by Wesley Theological Seminary with participation by the Department of Homeland Security Center for faith-based & neighborhood partnerships. SING IN THE CATHEDRAL
Have you ever wanted to sing at the Washington National Cathedral?  Now’s your chance!  The Wesley Chapel choir is inviting singers to join them for Graduation!  You need to attend two of the three rehearsals: April 21, 28 or May 5 at 4:30 PM. The Dean’s Forum on Student Life and Spiritual Nurture

Spring Picnic
This year’s spring picnic will take place April 26 at 12 pm in the NRH Plaza. Wesley Fellowship will provide all major food items, but student contributions are welcome! This year we are planning to coordinate one or two large group games, including (but not limited to) ultimate frisbee and football. THE DISH RAN AWAY WITH THE SPOON
The refectory is missing flatware, particularly spoons.  Replacing all of them would cost upwards of $300.  If you happen to see Refectory dishes and/or cutlery lying somewhere that it doesn’t belong, please take it home to the Refectory.

INTERFAITH MEDITATION INITIATIVE
This spring, Interfaith Meditation Initiative convenes thirteen metro-D.C. religious leaders from the Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Baha’i faiths to teach meditation in faith organizations and universities to enhance compassion and well-being across religious and cultural lines.  As part of this initiative, Buddhist, Jewish and Christian leaders guiding meditations together on Sunday, April 27, 11 am - 12:15 pm at the Celebration Center for Spiritual Living, 2840 Graham Road in Falls Church, VA.

Volunteering Solutions is an organization which provides safe international volunteering opportunities in different countries in the fields of healthcare, childcare, teaching, women’s empowerment, community development, and conservation programs.  We offer one of the safest and affordable program options worldwide.  In addition to individual volunteer opportunities, we have also offered group program opportunities since 2006. CURRENTLY IN THE DADIAN GALLERY: “FROM THE STUDIO:  Artists-in-Residence 2011-2014.”

Remember how wonderful it was to drop in on those artists working in the studio?  Watching and wondering how they would finish their projects?  The culmination of their labors is now on view! Wesley’s Artist-In-Residence program changes lives both in and outside of the studio, and has a dramatic impact on the evolution content and imagery in the artists’ work.  Make a point of reading their reflections on visual ministry and their creative process in the gallery notebook.  The exhibition closes June 6.

E-transcripts are right around the corner! Electronic transcripts are a new format that allows the option of delivery in a secure and certified PDF. Current students will be able to log into their MyWesley account and access the new transcript ordering portal. You can request an e-transcript, a paper transcript to be mailed, or a paper transcript to be picked up in office. E-transcripts will be $8 each, and paper transcripts are $10 each. You will need a credit card to make your purchase.

·     For those who wish pay in installments, we also offer the Sallie Mae TuitionPay Payment Plan.  The plan allows the student to pay semester charges for: Tuition, fees and housing in 4 installments. The fall payment plan begins in August through November and the spring payment plan begins in  December through March. The cost of the plan is $30 per term. A POISE OF THE SOUL-- YOGA AS LITURGY
Sweat it out - Talk to God - Have Fun!  Go to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church (3001 Wisconsin Ave, NW 20008) 6 - 7:30 pm on the fourth Fridays of the month.  We practice as the faithful, the seeker and the doubter in community, joining through the transformation processes of breath, yoga poses and spiritual contemplation.  Service led by Wesley seminarian Diana V. Gustafson and the Rev. Jim Quigley. EXIT DRIVE—REMINDER!!
The exit between Kresge and the New Residence Hall is ONE WAY!  There have been vehicles coming up the driveway going the wrong way.  This is an area of high pedestrian traffic, and the safety of our students must not be compromised.  Also, please prominently display your parking pass.  Tickets are being issued.

PARKING AT WESLEY
Please observe all parking instructions in the campus lot including the following notices:

·          Violations along any yellow curb will result in an immediate $100 non-refundable ticket. 

·          Pick up your parking permits in the Business office ASAP (i.e. this week!)

·          Left turns out of the main driveway onto Massachusetts Avenue are prohibited. 

·          Other parking restrictions will be marked by cones.  Please avoid these spaces

Please remember that additional parking has been secured at American University’s Katzen Arts Center’s parking garage, Level P3, free of charge for cars with a valid WTS parking permit.  The entrance to the garage is directly across from the Massachusetts Avenue entrance to American University.
