Though campus activity slows somewhat during the summer, Wesley students have remained engaged with the work God is doing in the world.
Engaging our urban surroundings in Washington, DC continues at the new Wesley Theological Seminary Mount Vernon Square location. A partnership between Wesley Theological Seminary, Asbury United Methodist Church, and Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, Wesley @ Mount Vernon Square houses our Urban Ministry program, Wesley’s intentional community, the Birch Residence Hall, faculty offices and classroom space.
Wesley Theological Seminary’s urban Washington, DC location provides countless opportunities for service to the world. In fact, starting in Fall 2011, service is built into the curriculum.
Three times a day during the month of July, songs of praise filter through the hallways of the Trott Administration Building of Wesley Theological Seminary. These prayer services and Chapel services mark the arrival of licensed local pastors for Course of Study classes at Wesley.
Deryl Davis is Adjunct Faculty in Wesley Theological Seminary’s Luce Center for the Arts and Religion. He is also a local actor, director and writer working in Christian Education. The Luce Center offers a Certificate in Theology and the Arts to Wesley Masters-level students as well as a Theology and the Arts Doctor of Ministry track.
Back in May, we related the details of the improvements to physical infrastructure taking place here at Wesley, but those aren’t the only improvements we have been making. All summer long, Wesley Theological Seminary has been working hard at upgrading our technology systems.
