Master of Divinity
The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) is the degree closely tied to a call ordained leadership in most mainline Christian denominations. Wesley's M.Div. will help you prepare for a lifetime of fruitful leadership whether you are called to pastor a church, a specialized chaplaincy or a ministry beyond the local church. Our specialized M.Div. programs allow you to focus on Youth Ministry, Urban Ministries, Emerging Church Ministries or as a United Methodist Student Pastor.
Master of Arts
Wesley's Master of Arts (M.A.) will prepare you for ministry in the church as a professional lay person or ordained deacon.
Masters of Theological Studies
If you simply want to do focused academic study, the Masters of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) offers you the most flexibility. We also have dual-degree options with American University's programs in International Peace and Conflict Resolution and International Development.
Doctor of Ministry
The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree is for active clergy who have a Master of Divinity and want to enhance their practice of ministry. Specific tracks of study - including Arts and Theology, Pastoral Theology, Care and Counseling, Spirituality, and Faith and the Health of Communities begin each May and January.
National Capital Semester for Seminarians (NCSS)
Spend an entire semester at a dynamic intersection of faith and politics. Seminarians from across the country join Wesley students each spring for National Capital Semester for Seminarians (NCSS) to engage in an intensive and transforming study of ethics, theology and public policy.
Options for Church Lay Members
The Equipping Lay Ministry (ELM) program prepares you as a lay person in the church for leadership in specific areas of ministry including: Christian Education, Evangelism, Hispanic/Latino Ministry, Parish Nursing, Small Group Bible Study, Spiritual Formation, Worship and Liturgical Arts, Youth Ministry, and Suicide Prevention. These classes also meet United Methodist General Board of Higher Education Certification requirements.
