Straughn is reserved for students who are not bringing their families with them to seminary.  If you are planning on bringing your family, please skip to the next question.

Carroll is reserved for families.  If you are a single student not bringing your family, please return to the previous question.  Efficiencies and Two-Bedroom Apartments are often in high demand, and unfortnately the fewest in number.  Please note that the housing office will process applications for these in order of receipt.  Once accomodations of your liking are full, you will be offered the next closest accomodation available.

• To qualify for campus housing one must be registered in a degree program and carry at least nine (9) hours of credit each semester. Students carrying less than nine (9) hours are eligible for housing only on a space-available basis. During the summer, four (4) credit hours are required for housing eligibility.
• Smoking is not permitted in campus housing facilities.
• No pets are allowed in campus housing facilities.
• Those assigned to campus housing assume the obligation to pay rent for the entire rental period. Housing rates may be subject to change.
• Apartments and dormitory rooms may be sublet to Seminary students or non-student affiliates only! Requests should me made in writing to the Housing Office for approval.
• Residents are encouraged to hold rental insurance on their property.
• Rent includes all utilities and local phone service. Each resident is responsible for obtaining a touch-tone phone and long distance service.

Straughn Dormitory

• There are 60 double occupancy rooms in Straughn Dormitory.
• Students without families joining them in residence on campus are housed in Straughn Dormitory. A limited number of single occupancy rooms are available each year. Priority for assignment to single rooms is given to students who are nearest to graduation or can show medical need.
• Permanent residents have the option of having their room designated to host a commuter roommate a few nights per week. Rent for the semester is reduced $100 for each night of the week a commuter is housed.
• The following appliances are prohibited in the dormitory: major appliances, hot plates, space heaters, rice cookers, toaster ovens, and halogen lamps. Extension cords should have surge protectors. Furniture provided in the room must remain in the room.
• Residents are required to purchase the meal plan each semester. Meals are served Monday breakfast through Friday lunch during the regular 14 week semester. Weekend and holiday meals are not available and therefore are not included in the meal plan price.
• There are two kitchens for the use of residents, a study area, and an exercise area.
• Rental of dormitory rooms is for one academic year. The rental year begins on the Saturday before classes start in August and ends on the Saturday following the last day of classes the following May. Summer housing is available but must be requested through a separate application process each Spring.
• Dormitory rent is due with tuition in the Seminary Business Office on the first day of class each semester.

Carroll Hall Apartments

• There are 30 one-bedroom apartments, 6 two-bedroom apartments, and 5 efficiency apartments in Carroll Hall. Single persons may request housing in Carroll Hall, but because of the limited number of apartments, priority is given to those students who have family in residence with them.
• Apartments are furnished and furnishings must remain in the apartment. Any furniture brought to campus must fit into your apartment. No furniture storage is available but there are a limited number of small storage bins in the basement which can be requested through the Office of Housing.
• Apartments are carpeted and have window drapes. Kitchens are equipped with a compact unit consisting of a stove, sink, refrigerator, disposal, and cupboard. A large common freezer is provided as well as large washers and dryers, located on the ground floor in a common area. Major appliances such as new refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, and washing machines are not permitted in apartments. Halogen lamps are prohibited. Extension cords must have surge protectors.
• Rental of apartments is for one calendar year. The rental year begins on the Saturday before classes start in August and ends one year later, except in the year of the student's graduation when the rental year ends on the Saturday following graduation.
• Apartment rent is due in the Seminary Business Office by the 15^th of each month.
