The Library offers a wide range of generous services in support of theological education and research. While our primary concern is support of Wesley faculty, staff, and students, we also provide services to members of the broader Wesley community and to our partners in teaching in learning. ELIGIBILITY Patrons must be currently registered with the Library in order to obtain, renew, or use borrowing privileges. In particular, please note the following: Wesley students must have a student ID card validated for the current semester. American University students and faculty must have valid AU ID cards. Washington Theological Consortium students and faculty must have a WTC borrowing form provided and signed by their home institution, good for the current semester. PRIVILEGES Borrowing and other privileges (including maximum number of items, length of book loan, access to electronic resources, and Inter-Library Loan services) vary based upon patron category. Remote Access to Electronic Resources. By contractual agreement with publishers and information providers, remote access to e-resources is limited to Wesley students, staff, and faculty. Partner Libraries. The Library maintains cooperative relationships with a variety of research libraries, including American University and the libraries of the Washington Theological Consortium. Consult these libraries for more information regarding their policies and procedures.
Telephone & E-mail Renewal
Users may renew library items as long as no one else has requested them. Renewed items are subject to recall. Items may be renewed two times before they must be returned to the Library.To renew books by telephone, users call the Circulation & Information Services Desk at (202) 885-8695. To request renewal by e-mail, users should send their requests to library@wesleyseminary.edu. Make sure you include your name, ID number (or barcode number), and the titles of the books you want to renew.
Returning Items
Books may be left in the book return at the Library entrance. A bill will be sent for overdue books left there. If necessary, books may be returned by mail. The borrower is responsible for losses or damage. Mailed items should be postmarked by the due date. Overdue fines will be billed. In order to prevent damage, A/V materials and tape recorders should be returned in person.
Inter-Library Loan (ILL) privileges are available for Wesley students, faculty, and staff. The Library will attempt to borrow materials that the Library does not own from another library. The borrower may have to pay any charges that the lending library levies. Library users without access to ILL are are encouraged to inquire at their home institution's library or at a public library. When an ILL item is available, it must be picked up at (and returned to) the Wesley Theological Seminary Library. We cannot mail items to you.
Please note that ILL requests can take ten to fourteen days to be fulfilled. Interlibrary Loan services may be limited during holiday and summer vacations.

A number of rooms in the Library may be reserved for group use, including the Seminar Room and the Classroom in the Learning Commons, and the Godsey Room and Rare Book Room on the second floor. Room reservation policies are described in the Library Handbook.
