Commuter Housing
Commuter housing is a convenient option for our students who maintain a permanent residence just far enough away from Wesley that a daily commute is not possible. Our commuter residents come from all over-- as close as Baltimore, and as far away as Pennsylvania, New York or Delaware. Commuter housing is also a good option for students who live near enough to daily commute but find their home environments are too difficult for home study.
Students have access to single (private) or double (shared) occupancy dormitory rooms and community bath available in Straughn Residence Hall from one to three nights per week. Commuters in double occupancy assignments may be paired with another commuter resident.
Dormitory rooms are furnished with twin beds. For more information on rooms, please see residence halls. Rooms are rented by the semester, and the days of the week are determined by the student but remain the same from week to week for the entire semester. Most of our commuter residents will arrange to register for courses on the same or consecutive days to make this arrangement work.
Commuter housing is scheduled fourteen weeks for each fall and spring semester, corresponding to the academic calendar and does not include reservations during week-long school holidays.
Commuter housing is NOT available during summer terms. Married students are eligible for commuter housing, but limited to sharing a double occupancy dormitory room in Straughn Residence Hall.
Commuter residents are responsible for bringing their own linens and toiletries for their stay. Although these residents retain keys to their room for the entire semester, they are not permitted to enter prior to 1 pm on the day they check-in, and must vacate no later than 12 pm on the day they check-out.
Personal belongings are permitted to be left in the room after check-out, but must be stored in the provided wardrobes and drawers and no bed linens may remain on the beds.
While commuter students are not in residence, these dormitory rooms are used for seminary guests as part of our guest housing program.
Extra commuter nights outside of the contracted nights per week are available (in the event of a special assignment or exam). Students must contact the director of housing a minimum of one week prior to the extra night to make arrangements. Extra nights are billed to the student account.
Apply Now!
Because schedules change, commuter residents must reapply for commuter housing prior to every fall/spring semester, and must remit their keys to the office of housing at the end of every semester. There is no deadline for applying, but spaces are limited. If you feel commuter housing might be right for you, it's best to apply now.
