Your Next Step in Ministry

For some completing The Course of Study Program and being local pastor is what they want to do in retirement. Others desire to follow a call to ordained ministry or associate membership.  Below you will find information on ways to continue to follow your call to ministry.

Where Do I Go From Here? Expand

Students desiring to continue to Advance Course of Study will need to take 32 credit hours of masters level credit from an accredited United Methodist institution.  In addition, most universities and seminaries require students to have a bachelors degree to be admitted to study.

Options for completing the Advance COS program at Wesley include:

  • Taking masters level courses either during the regular semester on over the summer to  complete the 32 required hours including United Methodist History, Doctrine, Polity and Evangelism.
  • Applying for an MA degree to fulfill the 32 hours.  An MA a Wesley is 36 hours.
  • Wesley also offers Methodist Studies on-line throughout the year to assist students in completing these requirements.

For more information contact the Admissions Office at Wesley Theological Seminary 202-885-8659.

Information regarding the requirements for the Course of Study is also available from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.

The admissions office can  outline the best path for you to take and provide the requirements for admission.
