Movie Title:

Just Go With It

I Will Be With You… ~ Exodus 3

When I hear the phrase: “Leading in these times…”, my spirit is immediately flooded with feelings of fear.  Perhaps it’s because we are currently living in one of the most uncertain times in earth’s history.  For you, leading in these times may cause feelings of stress and strain when thinking about the unforeseeable future and realizing how unpredictable life truly is.  Thinking about leading in these times can bring feelings of fear and distress.  How do we lead people during a pandemic, job loss, personal loss, mental distress, and family difficulty?

However, I am comforted by the fact that God’s words speak to my feelings and my faith.  In Scripture, we learn that Moses faced similar challenges.  In the book of Exodus, Moses is asked to lead in “these” times.  He is tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro when God appeared to him in a burning bush and asked him to lead the children of Israel from slavery to the Promised Land.  God assures Moses that He has heard the cry of the people and He is now coming to rescue them. God’s method that He would use to deliver His people from slavery was through Moses.  What an incredible task!  What a huge responsibility!  Sound familiar?  Moses responds to God’s request with reasons as to why he cannot lead in “these” times, but God says to Moses “I will be with you!”

Community of Wesley, there is no need to be fear-filled or afraid about what lies ahead during these times.  Why?  The same God, who was with Moses, is with you.
