Let Love Lead
Daniel 9:3–10
I
n this Lenten season, we turn to Daniel 9:3–10, witnessing Daniel’s deep repentance and heartfelt prayer for mercy not just for him but the people of Israel. This passage invites us into a space of humility and introspection, urging us to seek God’s forgiveness with a contrite heart. Daniel’s actions—fasting, sackcloth, and ashes—symbolize a profound mourning over sin and an earnest longing for divine grace. His prayer, filled with confession, acknowledges the collective failures of his people, and leans into God’s unfailing love and mercy.
This season calls us to reflect on our own lives, recognizing our shortcomings and trusting in God’s boundless grace. It echoes the message of John 3:16, revealing God’s ultimate sacrifice—His Son for our salvation—inviting us into a love-filled relationship with Him. Daniel disparately prays, fast and cries out to the Lord for the forgiveness of the people of Israel; God looks at the sins of the people and sends His only Son for our sin; what can we do for others? This sacrificial love is our calling, urging us to live out this love in service to others.
We were always inspired by three moments in Jesus’ ministry as portrayed in “The Renewal” artwork we share. We see Jesus’ life as the embodiment of transformative love. From His birth to His ministry, Jesus teaches us to love unconditionally to care for one another and be the light of the world. This Lent, “let love lead the way,” focusing not just on personal transformation but on healing our communities and the world. By following Jesus’ example of love in action, we can be agents of change, caring for the needy, building relationships, and embodying the hope and renewal that Jesus brings.
May this Lenten journey inspire us to lead with love, prayer, and fasting, transforming our lives and those around us, as we walk towards Easter, renewed, and filled with the promise of God's everlasting love.
